This week we had a chat with vintage wedding and bespoke jewellery designer Claire Ogden. We discussed with the Saddle worth based designer, (Saddleworth is between Bolton and Manchester if you were wondering, as *ahem*one of our wonderfully knowledgeable team members informed us) vintage slogans, her favourite designer, why she digs Darling and most importantly what she would design for Kate Middleton’s pending nuptials. Looking for that perfect coat can be time consuming; there’s finding the right style, fit, occasion and then making sure you have enough to pay for it all. When it comes to buying a coat, many rarely consider buying vintage for fear of it ‘not lasting’ which we tend to find quite ironic, it being vintage and all. Nevertheless, we are here to say that buying a vintage coat could in fact be the investment piece you never knew you could have.

It’s Not Old it’s Vintage: How to Size Vintage Garments

Whether you are new to vintage or you’re as enthusiastic about it as Wiley Coyote is about that road runner, there can still be that old age problem that rears its ugly new school head- the sizing.

Ultimate blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe is forever touted as gorgeously curvaceous size 16, but she was not a size 16 as we know it today. We at Darling have what we call the three Ss: Style, Silhouette and Sizing three important things, three very important things that have evolved over the past century. It is worth remembering that we are a lot taller (and possibly better looking) and are therefore bigger than we used to be, so we thought it would be best to give everyone the basic know how when it comes to sizing so you can get the size you need not the size that you think you should need.
